Birding & Photography Excursions
Would you like to visit Cedar Key and go home with photographs that you'll show proudly to all your friends back home. Our Birding Tours will get you up-close to the birds that pass through the Cedar Keys on their migratory paths and do so with expert instruction.
Not only do we have USCG Certified Boat Captains operating each tour, but each Birding Adventure will also have a Professional Photographer aboard to help you with your cameras settings, provide tips to help you capture Birds in Flight and help you come home with images your friends will be envious of.
Think of it as a Boat Tour mixed with a Photography Course. We try and limit the boats to 4 participants so there is plenty of room for you and your photography equipment. We recommend you have a minimum of a 300mm lens for optimal image quality. An ideal set-up would be a Digital DSLR camera body with two lenses. A medium range wide angle for vistas and scenic images and a telephoto lens of 300mm in reach minimum. Having a long telephoto is going to bring the birds that much closer in your viewfinder and you're going to be much happier with your images. If you don't have a long telephoto, we have partnered with Lensrental.com where you can pick out a telephoto lens of your choice and have it delivered to our location for your vacation. Having a high quality lens for your vacation in Cedar Key is money well spent. There are dozens of birds that will not allow you to get close enough for printable images without the use of a long lens. Make sure you check out Lensrental.com to see if they have something that might interest you. Depending on the time of year, you can expect to see various types of shore birds that pass through Cedar Key. Large flocks of White Pelicans, various Osprey nests, Bald Eagles and Roseate Spoonbills frequent the islands throughout the year and there are always the Herons, Ibis and Egrets who stay year round.
Our boats can also shuttle you and your kayak party to the local islands so you wont have to paddle open water to get to them. We can schedule drop-offs and pick-ups around your schedule and if you're looking to just have some personal one on one photography lessons, that can also be arranged. Feel free to shoot us an email with your questions and we'll be happy to answer them for you.
